Network
Our main network is hosted in a private data floor within IP House, a state-of-the-art Tier 4 Data Center in London Docklands. All the hardware used in our network is owned and maintained by Cobalt Network with redundancy at every level of its architecture. Our network operates on industry-leading equipment from Cisco, Dell and HP. All our main switches and routers are developed by Cisco and Dell. We operate a multi-homed network utilising BGP4 technology. We have multiple connections to the Internet with different backbone providers. Should any connection fail our other connections automatically take all the traffic.
We have built our web hosting platform using HP ProLiant web servers. HP is the largest supplier of computing systems in the world and its server products power some of the world’s most business-critical applications and businesses.

One of the keys to designing a fault tolerant network is to eliminate as many single points of failure as possible. HSRP [Hot Standby Routing Protocol] is a Cisco routing protocol that provides backup to a router in the event of failure.

Using HSRP, in all Cobalt Network rack cabinets, both routers are connected to the same segment of the Interlink Network and work together to present the appearance of a single virtual router on the LAN. The routers share the same IP and MAC addresses, so in the event of failure of one router, the hosts on the LAN are able to continue forwarding packets to a consistent IP and MAC address. The process of transferring the routing responsibilities from one device to another is transparent to the user.
High-Availability
Our high-availability servers are the perfect solution for companies looking for reliable, enterprise hosting for their mission-critical website. We can offer various high availability and load balancing solutions using cluster or failover technology, either in the same data centre or in dual locations.
